This Cookie Policy explains how volefanka.com (the “Site”) uses cookies and similar technologies. It is given under article 122 of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Italian Data Protection Authority’s guidelines of 10 June 2021 on cookies and other tracking tools. Read it together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a site places on the device you browse with, and reads again on later visits. They let a site work properly, keep features active, remember your choices and tell the operator how the service is being used.
Besides cookies, a site may use similar technologies — web beacons, pixel tags, scripts and local storage — that store or read information on your device. In this policy “cookies” means all of them.
Cookies can be:
- session — temporary, deleted when you close the browser. We use these to hold your basket while you shop;
- persistent — kept until they expire or you delete them. We use these to remember your privacy choices;
- first-party — set by volefanka.com itself;
- third-party — set by services embedded in the Site, and also governed by those providers’ own policies.
2. The categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary
These make the Site work and let you shop. Without them the basket, the checkout, sign-in, form security and the record of your own privacy choices would not function.
They do not require your consent. The legal basis is performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps you asked for — art. 6(1)(b) GDPR — and our legitimate interest in a working, secure Site — art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
2.2 Functional
These remember choices you have made, such as display preferences or recently viewed products, so the Site behaves the way you left it.
Where they are strictly needed for something you asked for, they are used without consent. Where they go beyond that, they are set only with your consent — art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
2.3 Analytics and measurement
These collect statistics about how the Site is used — pages visited, session length, navigation path, products added to the basket, checkout abandonment, referral source, browser and device, approximate location, technical errors — so we can measure performance and improve the shop.
Third-party analytics cookies, meaning those that allow you to be identified even indirectly, are set only with your consent. Only tools configured to collect purely aggregate data, with the IP address anonymised, without cross-referencing and without transmission to third parties, may be used without consent under the Authority’s guidelines.
2.4 Marketing, profiling and retargeting
These measure advertising, track conversions, build custom audiences and show you ads on other sites. They can follow your browsing beyond this Site to build a picture of your interests.
They are not needed to browse or to buy, and are set only with your consent — art. 6(1)(a) GDPR — which you can withdraw at any time.
3. What the Site uses today
3.1 WordPress and WooCommerce
The Site runs on WordPress with WooCommerce. These set first-party cookies that are strictly necessary for the session, the basket, the checkout and signing in. No consent required.
3.2 Payment providers
Payment is handled by third-party providers, which may use cookies to keep the payment session alive, prevent fraud, verify the transaction and meet their regulatory obligations. These count as necessary, because they are required for the operation you asked for. Depending on what they do, payment providers act as controllers in their own right or as our processors.
3.3 Analytics and advertising
Where analytics or advertising tools — such as Google Analytics, Google Ads conversion tracking or Meta Pixel — are enabled, they are loaded only after you have agreed in the banner. Until then they are not loaded at all, so they cannot set cookies or read your device.
These providers may transfer data outside the European Economic Area. That happens under articles 44 and following of the GDPR — an adequacy decision, a recognised framework, or the Standard Contractual Clauses.
3.4 Embedded content
Some pages may include content provided by third parties, such as a map or a video. Embedded content behaves as though you had visited the provider’s own site and can collect browsing data. Where this is used, the content is not loaded until you click to load it.

6. The banner and your choices
The first time you visit, a banner lets you:
- accept all cookies;
- reject all non-necessary cookies, with a control given equal prominence to accepting;
- choose category by category;
- open this policy for more detail.
Cookies that need consent are not set before you choose. Carrying on browsing, scrolling the page or closing the banner without choosing is not consent.
If you reject non-necessary cookies we will not ask again for at least 6 months, unless the processing changes significantly or you clear your cookies.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the Cookie preferences link in the footer. Withdrawing does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before you withdrew.
7. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also manage cookies in your browser settings — for example blocking third-party cookies or deleting the ones already stored. Look under privacy and security settings in Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge.
Turning off strictly necessary cookies will break the Site, in particular the basket and the checkout.
Browser settings may not be enough to stop tracking technologies other than cookies, so please also use the preferences panel on the Site.
8. Third-party opt-outs
Some providers offer their own controls — Google’s browser add-on for opting out of Google Analytics, Google’s and Meta’s ad preference settings, and the European industry opt-out tools for behavioural advertising. These are run by those providers; we are not responsible for how they work or whether they are kept up to date.
9. “Do Not Track” signals
Some browsers can send a “Do Not Track” signal. Where it is technically possible we take account of it for analytics and marketing cookies. There is no universally recognised standard for these signals and not all third-party services honour them in the same way, so the banner and the preferences panel remain the reliable way to express your choice.
10. How long cookies last
- necessary session cookies — for the browsing session, deleted when you close the browser;
- persistent necessary cookies, including your privacy choices — normally no more than 12 months;
- functional cookies — up to 12 months, or until you delete them;
- analytics cookies — up to 24 months;
- marketing and retargeting cookies — up to 90 days, unless the provider states otherwise.
11. Who receives the data
Data collected through cookies may be handled by us, by people we authorise, and by third-party suppliers providing technical, analytics, marketing, payment, hosting, maintenance or security services. Depending on the case they act as processors appointed under article 28 GDPR or as controllers in their own right. The data is not published and is not sold.
12. Transfers outside the EEA
Some third-party providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Any such transfer takes place under articles 44 and following of the GDPR — an adequacy decision of the European Commission, the recipient’s adherence to a recognised framework, the Standard Contractual Clauses, or another safeguard or derogation the law allows.
13. Your rights
For data processed through cookies you have the rights in articles 15 and following of the GDPR — access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability — and the right to withdraw consent to non-necessary cookies at any time. Write to us at the addresses at the top of this page.

14. Changes
We may update this policy — for legal, technical or organisational reasons, or when new cookies or third-party services are introduced. Changes are published on this page with the date of the last update. Where a change concerns cookies that rely on consent, we update the banner and ask for your consent again.
